What this does and does not prove
What it proves
- The records covered by a published fingerprint have not been altered since it was published.
- The number of events at that moment — a deletion would change the count and the fingerprint.
- That the platform committed to a state of the ledger at a specific time, publicly.
- That any later edit to an old entry would break every fingerprint published after it.
What it does not prove
- It does not publish the records themselves — no names, amounts or transactions are disclosed here.
- It does not prove a record was true when it was written, only that it has not changed since.
- It does not confirm any individual payment — for that, use the aggregate dashboard or file a grievance.
- A fingerprint that does not match is not evidence of tampering; it usually means it came from elsewhere.
